The city first made us pour cement footers, use mobile home metal tie-downs, set our camper on cinder blocks, and build steps to our front door. Our trailer was meant to move, but that was the exact opposite of what the city wanted. According to them, it needed to be secure so that it wouldn't blow away in a tornado. Ironically, a few short miles down the road is a permanent campground that doesn't have all of these requirements. The only difference was we were in a mobile park versus a campground.
All of these requirements only ended up delaying our set up for a few days. Luckily, our landlord allowed us to stay at his campground for free in the meantime. We do prefer living in the mobile park for the fact that we have more space, consistent neighbors, and are closer to town.

Great to see some posts. So did you have to purchase a truck to move your 5th wheel and since your home is pretty stationary, is there a recent you decided to go with a 5th wheel versus something like a destination trailer?

I did not purchase a truck. My father was generous enough to move my 5th-wheel for me. If he wasn't able to though, there are companies you can hire to move your 5th-wheel for you. Main reason we went with a 5th wheel is because we plan to keep it when we finish school. We figured it is what we wanted when we start using our trailer more for camping instead of living in. Destination trailers are a great option if you plan on staying stationary. We are stationary for the meantime, but only until I finish school.
DeleteWow, that is really great to hear that there are companies who can move your 5th wheel for you. After your done with school, make sure one of your road trips is back to Rochester for some delicious gelato. I look forward to seeing more of your posts, maybe then I can convince my wife that it is POSSIBLE.
DeleteYou have no idea how much Kelsey and I miss the Rochester GELATO! We will definitely have to make it back there!
